Despite a Rebrand, Culver City’s Modern Wine Bar Will Close on Friday

Plus Pizzana’s opening date in Weho, and lots of food in Bellflower

One less wine spot

Culver City wine and seafood spot Hayden is closing this week, ending a two-year run at the Platform project in Culver City. A little over a year ago, the place took on an even more casual approach serving sandwiches, salads, and raw bar seafood to go along with the excellent wine list. The final night of service is this coming Friday, with chef/owner Ari Kolender telling Eater that he will be focusing on other projects down the line in LA.

Incoming arrival

Pizzana is scheduled to open Friday at 11 a.m. in West Hollywood. The busy Brentwood shop is going smaller for this second locale (the seating is mostly patio only), and will keep later hours as well. More to come soon.

Pret on the horizon

Los Angeles will finally get its first Pret A Manger location, albeit only at LAX. The casual chain with a large East Coast presence is finally expanding nationwide.

Food with friends

Schaner Family Farms is teaming up with Eagle Rock Public House for a one-night dinner event on Wednesday. Expect lots of veggies and beer pairings, naturally.

Yogurt ain’t dead

Some dairy-free frozen yogurt has landed in Echo Park with the opening of Yoga-Urt at 2211 W. Sunset Boulevard. The company already enjoys a busy outlet in Glendale, but now is doing more than two-dozen rotating flavors from its small new shop.

Ice cream social

In the mood for ice cream instead? Jon & Vinny’s is doing a soft serve pop-up inside the Madhappy store on Abbot Kinney in Venice, running now through the end of July.

Handy with the steel

Steelcraft is now open in Bellflower. The burgeoning indoor-outdoor food hall model takes reclaimed steel shipping containers and fills them with restaurants and shops, including Fritzi Coop and others at this new location.
