THE MIRACLE IN YOUR HOUSE: HOW THE GENEROSITY GROUP IS TRANSFORMING LIVES

An Interview with Jamey Paugh, Founder of The Generosity Group

When Jamey Paugh answers our call from Southern California, he can't help but mention the weather. "It's beautiful here. I think Amber and I might need to leave the East Coast," he laughs. While home offers its charms, California's year-round sunshine, temperate breezes, and that perpetual feeling of possibility seem to match the energy Jamey brings to every conversation. There's an unmistakable vitality in his voice, the passion that comes from living your purpose.

And for Jamey, that purpose takes him from coast to coast, country to country, sharing a message that's transforming how churches, businesses, and individuals understand generosity.

But before we dive into the powerful biblical principles driving his ministry, let me paint you the full picture: Jamey isn't just a speaker traveling the world with a briefcase full of strategies. He's a devoted husband who runs The Generosity Group alongside his wife Amber, and together they're raising two beautiful children who already get it. I've personally heard their children on our Zoom calls, popping in the call with their little voices articulating their heart for children in need, their excitement about helping others. That's not performance; that's a family living out generosity as a lifestyle, raising the next generation with genuine compassion for people.

This is the foundation of The Generosity Group: a ministry that doesn't just teach principles but models them in real time, in real life, with real family dynamics that prove generosity isn't reserved for the wealthy or the polished. It's accessible, transformative, and available to anyone willing to discover what they already have in their house.

LA STYLE: Your journey started with $125,000 in debt. That's quite a turnaround to now helping others achieve financial freedom.

JAMEY PAUGH: Absolutely. Amber and I were drowning financially, but God whispered something radical: "Give your way out." It seemed impossible. How do you give when you can't pay your bills? But we started tithing 10%, then pushed to 50%+ giving. That obedience completely transformed our lives. Now we help thousands do the same through our three pillars: Generous Church, Generous Business, and Generous Life.

LA STYLE: In one of your sermons at Congregation Church in Orange County, you drew from a powerful biblical story: the widow's oil. Why does that resonate so deeply?

JAMEY PAUGH: Because it proves that what you have in your house is enough. This widow in 2 Kings had nothing but a small jar of oil, or so she thought. The prophet Elisha asked, "What do you have in your house?" and instructed her to collect empty jars. When she poured that single jar, it multiplied until every vessel overflowed. The oil only stopped when she ran out of jars.

Here's the revelation: The limitation wasn't God's supply but her capacity to receive. How many of us play small, collect just a few jars, when God wants to pour out abundance? The miracle was already in her house; she just needed faith to recognize it and bring it to the marketplace.

LA STYLE: So taking action is where the real transformation happens?

JAMEY PAUGH: Exactly! The miracle happened in her house, but the breakthrough came when she took action. She had to sell the oil to pay her debts and provide for her family. Your gifting locked inside is just potential. Shared with the world? That's impact, provision, and legacy.

We're designed in the image of Elohim, the Creator God, which means we're made to create, expand, and multiply. That's why I wonder what would've happened if she'd started making more jars! God doesn't do reasonable. He does impossible.

LA STYLE: What's the biggest misconception about generosity?

JAMEY PAUGH: That you need abundance before you can be generous. The truth? Generosity creates abundance. Amber and I gave our way out of $125,000 in debt. That defies conventional wisdom, but it's biblical truth. When you understand that the Kingdom of God is within you—that you're housing heaven's resources—you realize you're never impoverished. You're only limited by your faith to collect another jar.

LA STYLE: What's your message to someone reading this who feels stuck financially?

JAMEY PAUGH: Ask yourself: What do you have in your house? A gift, a talent, a skill you've minimized? Stop cataloging what you lack and recognize your "except," that one thing you do have. Then take it to the marketplace. Partner with others. God didn't design us for solo missions.

The miracle is already in your house. Your breakthrough year starts the moment you stop playing small and start using what God placed in your hands. It worked for a desperate widow thousands of years ago, and it'll work for you today.

LA STYLE: What makes The Generosity Group different from traditional financial ministries?

JAMEY PAUGH: We don't just teach budgeting. We teach biblical stewardship as a pathway to abundance. Our Breakthrough Community helps people break through financial barriers and limiting beliefs to unlock overflow in every area. It's faith-centered, practical, and proven. We've seen people go from financial chaos to becoming outrageous givers who experience true freedom.

LA STYLE: Tell us about your work with churches. Many struggle with the "giving conversation."

JAMEY PAUGH: That's where our Generosity Operating System comes in. Churches often have members who are disengaged in giving, not because they're selfish, but because they've never been discipled in generosity. Our GOS transforms church culture through strategic assessments like our Giving Unit Assessment, which measures engagement and creates pathways for growth. We move people from reluctant givers to above-and-beyond contributors.

LA STYLE: And the Living Financially Free Workshop?

JAMEY PAUGH: This is my favorite! It's a dynamic 90-minute live event where I teach church members how to "live on the 90"—meaning live on 90% of your income while giving away 10% or more. We cover debt elimination, financial growth, and cultivating extraordinary generosity. Pastors love it because it empowers their congregations with practical, biblically-based wisdom without them having to become financial experts.

LA STYLE: How does this principle translate to businesses?

JAMEY PAUGH: Through The Generosity Fund, we help companies integrate philanthropy into their business model seamlessly. Organizations contribute to vetted charities while we handle the logistics. It elevates their brand identity, demonstrates corporate social responsibility, and creates a powerful story around purpose-driven leadership. Generosity becomes strategic, not just good PR, but genuine impact aligned with their values.

LA STYLE: Final thoughts?

JAMEY PAUGH: Whether you're an individual seeking financial freedom, a pastor wanting to cultivate generosity in your church, or a business leader looking to create impact, generosity is the answer. It's not just what we do at The Generosity Group; it's who we are. And we believe it can transform your life too.
