AMERICA’S 250TH

AS AMERICA’S 250TH APPROACHES POTUS CALLS FOR A NATIONAL RENEWAL OF FAITH

Tthe United States prepares to celebrate its 250th anniversary, an abounding movement of spiritual renewal is taking shape, championed by President Donald J. Trump. With a call to rededicate the nation to its foundational biblical principles, President Trump has launched “America Prays”—an effort to inspire an hour of weekly prayer in families and communities across the country, in preparation for the nation’s most significant milestone since its founding.

This initiative arrives at a moment when, by the President’s own account, the nation is witnessing a “tremendous renewal in religion, faith, Christianity and belief in God.” In his recent State of the Union address, he highlighted this resurgence with unmistakable conviction — particularly among young Americans. “This is especially true among young people,” he declared, crediting the movement in part to conservative activist Charlie Kirk. He continued: “We love religion and we love bringing it back and it’s coming back at levels that nobody actually thought possible. It’s really a beautiful thing to see.”

Recent data appears to support these observations. Research from a leading faith and culture research firm indicates that for the first time in decades, younger adults—Gen Z and Millennials—are now the most regular churchgoers in America, outpacing older generations who once formed the backbone of congregational life. The typical Gen Z churchgoer now attends church 1.9 weekends per month, nearly double the rate recorded during the pandemic lows of 2020—a historic reversal that signals a powerful new openness to faith among the next generation.

President Trump’s “America Prays” initiative draws directly on this renewed empowerment of faith. Speaking in Iowa on July 3, 2025, he extended a national invitation: “As we prepare to celebrate two and a half centuries of freedom, I am inviting America’s great religious communities to pray for our nation and for our people. From the beginning, this has always been a country sustained and strengthened by prayer... as we chart our course for the next 250 years, let us rededicate ourselves to one nation under God.”

The initiative poses a defining question to every American household: “What if one million Americans dedicated one hour a week to praying for our country and our people?”

The implications stretch far beyond Sunday mornings and churchpews. A nation of believers unified in weekly intercession carries the potential to transform communities from the inside out—restoring families, renewing hope in broken places, and projecting a moral clarity onto the world stage that no legislation alone can produce. Throughout history, the great awakenings that reshaped America did not begin in the halls of Congress; they began on their knees. If one million voices rise together in prayer for this nation, the reverberations—spiritually, culturally, and globally—could mark the beginning of America’s most consequential chapter yet.

As July 4, 2026 draws near, this call to prayer is not merely a reflection on America’s past. It is a forward-looking declaration of faith—a conviction that the nation’s next 250 years will be shaped not only by policy and politics, but by the enduring power of a people united, on their knees, before God.
